I love Spike Lee. I love him a whole bunch. But even I have a hard time explaining why he would say that it’s possible that the federal government caused New Orlean’s Ninth Ward to flood after last month’s Katrina horror. "It’s not too far-fetched . . . I don’t put anything past the United States government," Spike told CNN. "I don’t find it too far-fetched that they tried to displace all the black people out of New Orleans."
While I don’t think that the feds would mind if the black people left New Orleans, I don’t think that they even remotely had it together enough to take any such action. Somehow the horror of complete and total government ineptitude isn’t enough?
Anyway, Spike was quoted as saying this while talking about a new project he’s doing for HBO, a film about post-Katrina flooding called When the Levee Breaks. I seriously hope that the guy sticks to the facts (I am getting the impression this will be a documentary not unlike his Four Little Girls), rather than insert crazy conspiracy stuff that’s too far fetched even for me to swallow.
Beg Spike to just think a little before he talks on our message board!
