http://chud.com/nextraimages/hitmanart.jpgI never thought I’d actually be looking forward to the film version of a video game I’ve never played, but having read and enjoyed Skip Woods’s draft of Hitman, I can honestly say I’m expecting something… entertaining at the very least. Though everyone had fun with the early, unofficial, off-the-cuff images of Timothy Olyphant as Agent 47 (images we ran until Fox Legal got all C&D on us), I saw an official still of the actor in character last week and he absolutely looked the part of a cold-blooded killer.

But we’ll all know for sure whether Olyphant’s got the killer moves next Wednesday when the Hitman trailer debuts before Live Free or Die Hard in theaters all over the mother(gunshot) country. Now, I’m not going to actually pay to see this alleged Die Hard sequel for reasons I’ll explain tomorrow (and my aversion is about more than the PG-13 rating), but I will be looking forward to the subsequent online debut of the Hitman trailer. The gentlemen producing the film, Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter, have done a superb job selling me on the movie (though I wouldn’t be listening if I didn’t like Woods’s screenplay), and I’m always up for a globetrotting bit of assassination and betrayal.

Hitman opens October 12 and, along with Olyphant, stars Dougray Scott, Robert Knepper and Olga Kurylenko. Luc Besson protege Xavier Gens is directing.
