Note: As a sort of post mortem to the Oscars, I will be covering all 10 of the Best Picture nominees and their trailers. And when I’m done, we can finally all STFU about the Oscars.
The hardest part of making a boxing film is staying out of the stereotype role. With Rocky and Raging Bull peppering the genre, you have to try everything to differiantiate yourself from all the rest. The first trailer for The Fighter does not do this. But the second trailer suceeds much more at this. It’s fast, frantic, and you don’t always understand exactly what is happening. Like sex with Charlie Sheen (that’s topical, right)? It’s not a great trailer, but it does a much better job at making me want to see the film than the first trailer. Check it out.
