Nic Cage finally got his comic book movie out of his system with Ghost Rider, but he’s moving right into another flick that sounds sorta like a superhero.
Cage is starring in Neil LaBute’s currently shooting remake of The Wicker Man, an update of the truly bizarre 70s film that followed a policeman searching for a missing girl in Scotland and finding dark secrets and a pagan community.
Lending a hand (and a beer) to Cage’s cop will be botched Helen Hunt clone Leelee Sobieski as a local barmaid who becomes his confidant (perhaps she’ll tell him all about working with Uwe Boll on Dungeon Siege). The original flick featured Christopher Lee as the pagan overlord, but LaBute’s cult is very progressive and all about equal opportunity — Requiem for a Dream addict Ellen Burstyn is now in charge of the pagan festivities, so the decorations and finger food will probably be better, at least.
