From the mind behind the mega-hit Syfy show you’ve probably never heard of (EUREKA) comes a tribute to all those no-budget Syfy original movies and the “so bad, they’re good” films that inspired them. Move over Roger Corman, step back Ed Wood, make way on your weekend programming schedule Mr. Stern, because here comes Andrew Cosby’s 365 DAYS OF SCI-FI.

And it’s all happening here! Each day, your friends at CHUD will bring you a brand new bad movie pitch — the best of the worst title Cosby can come up with, no matter where he’s at or what he’s doing, rain or shine, drunk or sober. That’s a whole year of the quality concepts you’ve come to expect from the network that brought you MANSQUITO and SHARKTOPUS.

365 days of Sci-Fi Archive

And now… DAY THIRTY-ONE:

“Wow.  It’s been a whole month.  I can’t believe I’m still doing this. I can’t believe I’m still sane!  Hope you’re having as much fun with these as I am.  Anyway, I figured I’d continue my love letter to Lovecraft with another tentacled tale — only this title leans a little more toward what we’ve come to expect from our Syfy orginals (while also paying homage to one of my all-time favorite monster movies, TREMORS).  Are you ready?”

– Andy Cosby

“This one will grab you!”

Pitch:

Following forty days and nights of nonstop rain, the world is now a flooded mess, forcing Tom Pruett and his family, along with other members of their tiny Midwestern town, to head for high ground, fending off hordes of giant, man-eating squid creatures released from the bowels of the earth by the unyielding torrential downfall. Tensions and tentacles mount as the water continues to rise, while Tom and the others desperately try to maintain hope in a desperate struggle to outlast the rain and survive against ever increasing odds and oddities.

Nick Says: This would be one of my favorites. And the scary thing is that it could be amazing with a little budget and the right effects house. I read Brian Greene’s The Conqueror Worms a few years back and that was a fun (if not rife with missed opportunities) little romp about massive rains and the creatures they brought. This would trump that and I think Tom Pruett is the role David Straithairn is dying to play.
