“Small Town Life”

DIE-O-RAMA: Following his grandfather’s suicide, a young man inherits a dilapidated Victorian, which he decides fix-up and flip for a few extra bucks.  While working on the extensive renovations, he discovers a beautifully detailed scale replica of the entire town tucked away in the attic, complete with little miniatures of the local townsfolk, including one that’s the spitting image of the young man’s wife – only she’s in the wrong house.  Curious, the young man drives past thehouse on his way home and spies his wife exiting, kissing another man goodnight.  She’s cheating on him, and somehow his dead grandfather knew.  But with more investigation, the man soon comes to learn that it wasn’t his grandfather… it was the diorama.  Mysteriously, events depicted in the scale replica are not only true but can also be manipulated.  And so begins the young man’s quest to make important changes in his life and in the town in which he lives, changes that ultimately include avenging himself against his cheating spouse, her lover and anyone else that has done him wrong.  He even tries to do away with the suspicious Sheriff, who suspects the young man of murder even though there’s no real evidence of foul play.  It all culminatesin a final confrontation in the attic, where the young man fights with the Sheriff and accidentally slips, crushing his own miniature.  The story ends with the young man in a coma at the local hospital.  His widow is forced to sell the house to pay the mounting medical bills, and the last scene is the diorama being tossed on the fire in the backyard to make room for the new owners.  As the diorama goes up inflame, smoke appears on the horizon, and we hear the distant sound of a fire truck’s siren.

Nick Says: That would have been a bad ass episode of [anthology show of choice].
