After months of seeing photos and clips leading us to believe Fantastic Four would be a financial and creative disaster, a $56 million opening proved us wrong on both counts (well, Devin liked it anyway). Stretching and flame powers were more than enough to keep red weeds and short superstars and cowled crusaders from reaching the top.
Summer hasn’t been kind to horror movies (Land of the Dead is gone already), with the US remake of Dark Water slowly dripping in fourth place. Speaking of dribbling, Martin Lawrence’s basketball comedy Rebound is also quickly being shoved off the court.
Next weekend while the CHUD cabal descends on San Diego for the annual Comic Con lunacy, you can get a taste of Depp in the update of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or swipe some cake and ladies with Wedding Crashers.
