It seems that David Fincher is just aware of how much we have all missed his presence in our theaters (even after Panic Room!), and has signed on to direct two films back to back.
Neither film is a huge shocker – he’s already been knee-deep in pre-production on Zodiac, a film about the Zodiac Killer who hunted humans in San Francisco. The other film is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which Fincher had been circling forever.
Button is based on an FÂ Scott Fitzgerald story about a man who starts aging backwards when he hits 50, much like the tragic fate of Mearth, Mork and Mindy’s son. That film is tipped to star Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett as the woman Benjamin falls for.
Both of these movies will be co-produced by Warner Bros and Paramount, with the mountain handling US distribution.
Look for Fincher to disappear all over again when these are done.
