Bleh, blehA high-concept action-horror flick that’s been kicking around for a while now has been scooped up by writer-director Jonathan Hensleigh, the guy who made the Punisher seem more interested in falsifying adultery than blowing the shit out of people.

Hensleigh is the most recent helmer to take over New Line’s Darksiders, about a group of vampires who, because of their unique abilities, are recruited to work for the FBI (probably on the graveyard shift, ahahaha!!! Ahem.).  Of course, because of their penchant for gratuitous mayhem and ingesting fresh hemoglobin, the Feds must keep them on a short leash.

The original script (which will once again be rewritten) came from writers Tom Parker and Jim Jennewein, who also penned a similar horror story: the live-action Flintstones movie. X-Files guy David Nutter was previously attached, picking up the project when David Goyer instead decided to put a final stake in the Blade franchise, which he ironically made viable in the first place.

Hensleigh, who’s also worked on scripts for Armageddon, Die Hard With a Vengeance and early adventures of Indiana Jones, has also been developing remakes of The Naked Jungle and Mario Bava’s Black Sabbath and Kidnapped.
