Fans are going through a period of high stress right now as Brett Ratner prepares to take the reins of the X-Men franchise. We felt that we were in a good place with Matthew Vaughn, and now Ratner feels like a serious step or eight backwards.
But maybe there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe the days of seeing merry mutants in astonishing action aren’t over. The Wolverine spin-off movie is really getting some steam, as Hugh Jackman’s Seed Production Company (kudos to Coming Soon! for having the best headline about this, by the way) stepping up to produce the movie with Lauren Shuler Donner and Avi Arad.
There is a script being worked on by David Benioff right now, which I am excited to hear more about. It is supposed to be turned in any day now (devin@chud.com).
Hopefully the gears on this machine can really start turning before X3 hits theaters. I long ago learned that anyone and any movie can surprise you, but I have a very bad feeling about that project. It would nice to see this film getting made before the X franchise gets creamed.
