365 days of Sci-Fi (Archive)

From the mind behind the mega-hit Syfy show you’ve probably never heard of (EUREKA) comes a tribute to all those no-budget Syfy original movies and the “so bad, they’re good” films that inspired them. Move over Roger Corman, step back Ed Wood, make way on your weekend programming schedule Mr. Stern, because here comes Andrew Cosby’s 365 DAYS OF SCI-FI.

And it’s all happening here! Each day, your friends at CHUD will bring you a brand new bad movie pitch — the best of the worst title Cosby can come up with, no matter where he’s at or what he’s doing, rain or shine, drunk or sober. That’s a whole year of the quality concepts you’ve come to expect from the network that brought you MANSQUITO and SHARKTOPUS.

And now… DAY TWENTY-ONE:

“When I first heard about Hobo with a Shotgun, I was green with envy. What a perfect idea for a grindhouse revenge thriller.  Clean and simple, no need for messy character arcs, midpoints or reversals. Everything you need to know is right there in the title.  So,  here’s my attempt to do the same, only with a twisted little sprinkle of holiday magic.

– Andy Cosby

“You better watch out.

Pitch:

Fired just twelve days before Christmas, in criminal default on past-due child support payments, and faced with eminent eviction, a disgruntled mall Santa snaps, becomes convinced he’s possessed by the“true spirit” of the season and goes on a kill-crazed rampage, punishing the city’s naughty for even the slightest transgression in an attempt to teach others to be nice… or pay the price.

Nick Says: I did a Christmas record two years ago built on the idea that all the Mall Santas are sleeper cells for the real Santa, who is an evil alien. We followed it up an Arbor Day record continuing the story and are doing a President’s Day one this year and this kind of thing gets so much mileage. Santa is perfect as a villain because of his role in our culture. Great stuff, I personally think Leon Rippy is going to rock in the lead role.
