That headline gag would have worked better if the name of the project were Sex on the Neptune (you know, Nepwork). Although, since Neptune is mostly a gas giant, not really sure if anything can actually be “on” it. That is, unless you get to the core, but that’s like really dense and stuff. Might have to consult with Weir or Miller on that one…
Anyway, the gang that brought you the quite likely shoo-in for Best Picture is re-teaming for another project, titled Sex on the Moon. Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca, Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti, who produced The Social Network, have scooped up the next proposed book from author Ben Mezrich. Mezrich’s novel, The Accidental Billionaires, was the basis for Network. The new book, another true tale, centers on a rising NASA scientist, who in 2004 came up with the brilliant idea of stealing moon rocks and sell them on the Internet. The goal? To impress his girlfriend. Heh. For all our sakes, I’ll refrain from any adult diaper quips on that one.
The Social Network just ran roughshod over the Golden Globes even more so than Ricky Gervais, picking up the statues for film, director, screenplay and score. We’ll see how it makes out on the Oscar nominations next week. I’m thinking pretty good. Sony will be the studio on the new project.
