The full trailer for 300 is upon us, and it still has that great Nine Inch Nails song on it. I think I’m going to end up disappointed when the film doesn’t have a Trent Reznor soundtrack.
It’s repetitive but true – I love this stuff. Every bit of footage from this film has worked for me, and this trailer is no exception. I know there are people out there who don’t dig what Zack Snyder et al have done here, and that baffles me. This footage is incredible. It’s exciting, it’s beautiful and it’s so fucking cinematic. Will the movie be any good? Who knows, but it’s going to look fantastic.
And here’s the thing – either you love "THIS… IS… SPARTA!!!!" or you don’t. I think that’s the line that’s going to be drawn for this film – those who can enjoy the over the top elements versus those who want a more typical sword and sandals flick. The truth is that I would rather see this film fail as a strange experiment in histrionics than succeed as a mediocre take on Gladiator.
