Having a French couple crashing at your place for a week (thanks Couchsurfing!) can cause your regular movie watching schedule to go to hell!
So this week, I was barely able to sneak in a few movies. Things will normalize next weekend though. I can’t really lose much more time if I’m to reach my 365 movies in 365 days goal.
Here’s this week’s list.
- Roger Dodger
- Gone With The Wind
- Ed Wood
- Plan 9 from Outer Space
Yeah, only four. Sorry about that. But Gone With The Wind has to count as two, easily.
Speaking of which, I found the production to be immense and epic. Fantastic in every way. But I couldn’t care any less about the problems of rich white plantation slave owners. I actually wanted all of them to get burned and hanged. In that order.
Still, an impressive film.
Ed Wood on the other hand, blew me away. Best Tim Burton film, hands down. The acting and love of movies from every party involved is clear. Landau is simply phenomenal in Bela Lugosi’s shoes. And Vincent D’nofrio steals the film with that Orson Welles impersonation (I know it’s not his voice, but he looks just like him).
Then I had to immediately watch Plan 9 from Outer Space. Simply a masterpiece of bad film making. But it’s not unwatchable bad. It’s actually very entertaining and endearing in it’s own way. Actually hilarious in some parts.
That was my week, french invasion and all. If you want more movie talk, drop by the 90’s draft happening on the boards right now. And you can also get annoyed by Rath’s love of Spike Lee.
Have a good week!
