2 summers ago, Hurricane Dolly ravaged the little town I lived in. I’d never seen anything like it, and I hope I never see anything like it again. There’s still a fallen here on the property that we still haven’t cut up that fell down, because it’s so thick. All we could do was trim it of the smaller branches. For almost a week there was no power in the town, save for people with generators.
Last summer was a breeze. Nothing major.
A few days ago I found out Hurricane Alex was on it’s way here, and that it was going to be about as devastating as Dolly. I was freaking out over possibly being without power for several days, and that it would be flooded like it was before all over again. The property is on high ground, so luckily we don’t have to go find shelter elsewhere, or worry about water damage. That’s very lucky for us.
The past 2 days, especially yesterday, it rained almost nonstop. I was really worried that at any moment the power would go out. I tried to take my mind off of it, by playing my recently purchased copy of Aliens Vs. Predator, as well as watching some of the movies I got from my recent trip this past weekend (The trip will be my next blog entry, which I hope to have up by tomorrow)
The rain has pretty much stopped, and the weatherman said the day before yesterday on the news that by Saturday it would be clear weather. That’s great news since that’s 2 days from now. I’m just glad it’s over and that it wasn’t as bad as the last time. It’s just given me the thought that when I get a home of my own, to make sure it’s on high ground. No low ground for me.
