What I’m Thankful For:
The Great Showdowns, by Scott C.
Over the weekend I was catching up on Kate Beaton’s Hark, A Vagrant (another web property that undoubtedly deserves a write up in one of these columns) and she posted a throwaway link to something that she called a “great showdown.” No capitalization, nothing ornamental – just a couple of words with a link. So, naturally, I clicked it.
And holy shit.
From Olly Moss‘ RoadShow prints to Alamo‘s partnership with del Toro to even those fake Criterion Covers for Non-Criterion Movies – we love creative, original art, especially when it ties into film. That’s exactly what this is.
I only discovered it on Saturday, so I’m not entirely sure how long this dude’s been around doing his thing, but he has an amazingly extensive backlog of pieces that he’s done. I don’t have to devote a lot of words to explaining why these things are great – you can see it here. And that’s what they are – great.
Here’s the link to the site – browse it and just be happy. The three images I’ve included here don’t eve begin to cover how much material this guy has on his site using only this concept. It never gets old. There’s something infinitely pleasurable about seeing Roger Thornhill and a cropduster smiling and waving at one another and for that I’m thankful.
