Just in time for its 25th anniversary, Trouble In Mind
gets the Special Edition treatment on DVD.  Written and
directed by Robert Altman protege, Alan Rudolph, this neo-noir flick
from 1985 stars Kris Kristofferson, Keith Carradine, Lori Singer,
Genevieve Bujold, and Divine.

Released
by Shout! Factory, the movie is newly restored and has special features
including “A Conversation with Alan Rudolph and Composer Mark Isham”
and new interviews with much of the cast. The set also includes a
collector’s booklet with liner notes by Alan Rudolph himself.

So what is Trouble In Mind about?  Let’s see:

In
the fictional and hypnotic Rain City, ex-cop Hawk (Kris Kristofferson)
has just been released from prison after serving hard time for killing a
man. Meanwhile, a young down-on-his-luck father, Coop (Keith
Carradine), and his radiant, innocent wife, Georgia (Lori Singer), head
toward the city with their new baby in search of a new life.

Littered
with eccentric gangsters and thugs, Rain City serves as almost a side
street to human evolution. At the center of it all is Wanda’s
– a dive diner run by Hawk’s ex
(Geneviève Bujold) – where the
characters’ lives will intersect, changing them
forever.

Trouble
In Mind is set somewhere in the future and the past of countless
classic film noirs, creating a completely realized neo-noir masterpiece.

Interesting.  I think this exceedingly ’80s movie trailer says it all.  Trouble In Mind hits the streets on December 14th.
