Because they have millions and millions of hits and absolutely no opinion about movies, the fine folks at Yahoo have debuted the trailer for the upcoming prestige flick that won hearts, minds, and awards at TIFF (which is even better than JPG*), The King’s Speech. The cast reads like a Who’s Who of period film legends: Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter, Timothy Spall, Jennifer Ehle, Derek Jacobi, and Michael Gambon. Heck, even frequent Nick Nunziata collaborator Guy Pearce [heavy sarcasm] is in on things. The film is directed by Tom Hooper, who is the dude that makes very good classy films like The Damned United and the John Adams HBO joint and not the dude who made Eaten Alive happen.
It won the audience award in Toronto, which is actually quite an achievement. Here’s hoping it lives up to that hype and then some. Take a peek at the trailer, which is certainly good but as is typically the case with films like this is that the trailers do them little to no justice at all:
