THUD: BOARDWALK EMPIRE RENEWED FOR 2ND SEASON, JUST THAT FAST

After a long stretch of anticipation, Boardwalk Empire debuted to mostly positive response last night. Apparently the eyeballs were there, as Movieline is reporting
that the show brought in 4.8 million viewers (7 million with the
immediate reruns- both of which I watched). That number is big for HBO;
their biggest premiere in six years. With such immediate success, HBO
has pulled the trigger on a second season, renewing the show for what
will presumably be another 12 or so episodes. 

Such a big show deserves a big welcome, and CHUD has launched an appropriately big, new tag-team review for Boardwalk Empire that will catalog our thoughts on each episode. Looks like we’ll be writing them for a long time to come.
