I’m curious as to how movie marquees will display the title for the pitch that that Fox Searchlight just picked up from director Daryl Wein and producer Michael London (Appaloosa): Motherf***ker. Now I’m not sure if that is the actual spelling of the title that the film will be using, but that’s how the source article at Deadline had it, so that’s what I’m going with. The project centers on a guy who falls in love with a girl. When she brings him home to meet her parents, he falls for his girlfriend’s mom. It’s a fairly safe bet where that relationship proceeds from the title.
Wein, who is a slasher (director/writer/actor/producer), will write the project with Zoe Lister-Jones, his co-star and co-writer for his indie feature, Breaking Upwards. As an actor, he has done guest spots on Ed, Law & Order and Law & Order SVU; and he has also directed Sex Positive, a documentary on Richard Berkowitz, a former gay S&M sex worker turned AIDS activist. Lister-Jones is an actress with a respectable amount of credits, including her own guest spots on the various Law & Orders, State of Play and The Other Guys.
On a side note, did you know that, according to Wikipedia, the bad word gained usage in WWII and was applied to soldiers who traded food, money, or anything of value for sex with poor or starving French and German women? And that many of these women were housewives whose husbands were drafted, captured or killed, hence the term? And of course, it’s one of George Carlin’s Seven Words, so there’s that as well.
Anyway, there’s no word as of yet as to when Samuel L. Jackson will be contacted for his mandatory role.
