Sam Worthington has heard your complaints about his screen persona… and he agrees.
The number one thing Worthington wants out of Clash of the Titans 2 is the opportunity to ‘play a lot more and have a lot more fucking fun than just being a stoic young man who has to stand there and look pretty. I’m sick of doing that.’
Worthington spoke to the press today at the offices of Radical Studios, where his production company, Full Clip, has set up a comic book imprint. The first title from Worthington’s Full Clip, Damaged, will launch in February, with a graphic novel called Patriots coming sometime after.
That’ll be just about the time when Worthington heads off to shoot Clash 2, and he’s going to be using his box office powers to help shape the movie into something he wants. ‘They came to me with the story the other day. I said, “I kinda dig where it’s going, but can we make the character more of this? Can we make the character more of that?” It’s kind of a case of, “How do we make Perseus a lot more fun?” So we’re sort of shaping it down that track. And Warner Bros. has been nice enough to allow us to have a bit of input.’
One of the other things Worthington is holding steady on is shooting the movie in 3D, not post-converting it. In fact, he asked us to mention that he wants it shot in 3D, ‘to make them fucking aware.’ Worthington said of the post-conversion of the first film: ‘In regards to the conversion, I’m a Jim Cameron
boy, so people know my opinions.’
But in the end there’s one thing that’s most important to Sam Worthington when it comes to Clash of the Titans 2:
‘I don’t want to stand there with a stick up my ass.’
