The cast of Scream 4 has been a bit of a carousel lately, which has seen some people come and go…much like their characters will undoubtedly do. The latest potential knifing candidates include Adam Brody, Marley Shelton and Erik Knudsen.
Brody will play a cop recently graduated from college who was raised on the CSI TV series. Shelton will play a deputy who knew Campbell’s character in high school. Lake Bell had been in negotiations for the role. Knudsen will have a role similar to the one played by Jamie Kennedy in the first two installments, a character who is familiar with horror movie conventions and a provider of comic relief.
Meanwhile, director Wes Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson are doing their best to keep the film’s secrets, namely the killer(s), confidential by not letting the casting agencies have the script, and stopping those already cast from proceeding past page 75. Shelton was recently seen in A Perfect Getaway and will appear in Elektra Luxx. Brody appeared in last year’s Jennifer’s Body and has Different Kind of Love and The Oranges upcoming, while Knudsen is playing Luke “Crash” Wilson in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Shooting on Scream 4 began this week in Michigan.
