The Arthur remake starring Russell Brand and Dame Helen Mirren seems to be moving apace, as word comes that both Jennifer Garner and Nick Nolte are reportedly in talks to join the cast, according to THR.com. Closely hewing to the original, the new Arthur follows a very
rich, happy drunk who is told by his mother that he must marry the
wealthy girl of her choosing or else lose his inheritance, just as
he meets a poor girl (Greta Gerwig) and falls in love. Garner is playing an heiress who carries her own secrets and whom
Brand must marry. Nolte is her deeply religious father.
Nolte is good news, and I’m glad that Garner is keeping busy; but Elektra aside, I’m interested in seeing her get back into the action game in some way. I just hope that her being an ole mum now hasn’t dulled her killer instincts permanently. Because, unless I’m forced at gunpoint by my wife, I don’t see myself catching too many Valentine’s Days and I rather like her work. She’s also got Jim Field Smith’s Butter lined up for 2012. Meanwhile, Nolte has Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore and Warrior upcoming.
