The trailer for the Jack Black version of Gulliver’s Travels may be one of the worst ever made. The pacing of the thing is so off; it feels like it’s ten minutes long. More than that, it obviously walks you through the entire first act, meaning you can probably show up to the movie twenty minutes late. Oh, and it’s also for a film that looks so bad it’s hard to believe it’s real.
And that’s not even addressing the FX work, which looks like something out of a British TV show. This just looks like an atrocity; the moment the 20th Century Fox logo came up I was instantly thankful for my apparently eternal ban from that studio, which means I’ll never have to sit through this crap.
At the beginning of this year I vowed to try to focus on the positive side of the movie business. After all, I write about this stuff because I love it. Maybe 2010 was the wrong year to quit being so cynical.
