Steven Spielberg’s high-concept TV series, Terra Nova, which Fox recently picked up as a midseason show, has signed Alex Graves to direct the pilot, says EW. Graves is known for helming the pilots for TV shows Fringe, Journeyman and The Whole Truth. The show is described as being about a family 100 years in the future that travels back to the prehistoric era. The exec producers are stacked with Hollywood notables and include Spielberg, Brannon Braga, ex-Fox Chairman Peter Chernin, Craig Silverstein and Kelly Marcel.
EW also got a hold of the script and provided the following details: [It] begins in 2149 A.D. The scene: a large group of settlers are preparing
to leave the apocalyptic world they live in to time travel back
millions of years via a massive, high-tech contraption. Their goal is
to see trees, enjoy a blue sky, eat real food – basically, to start
over in this so-called Eden. But what they find is unlike anything they
were expecting.
Terra Nova has a 13-episode commitment and is due to begin production in Australia at the end of the summer.
