Once again, if you haven’t checked it out, Devin’s rundown of Breaking Dawn, do so now. It’s required reading for anything regarding the Twilight franchise on this site. Probably more so than the books themselves.
Now absorb that Bill Condon, the Dreamgirls director and Oscar winner, has been announced today to be the one trying to make all of that happen, according to THR.com. All the usuals will be back to wrap things up as well: Melissa Rosenberg is adapting, Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Meyer are producing, and the big three of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner will be slinging the emo. Said Condon of the opportunity: “I’m very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to
life onscreen. As fans of the series know, this is a
one-of-a-kind book — and we’re hoping to create an equally unique
cinematic experience.”
The decision still has to be made as to whether or not to split the film into two (my money is yes) and whether to make it 3D (like that’s even a debate at this point). “Bringing Stephenie Meyer’s ‘Breaking Dawn’ to the screen requires a
graceful and intelligent hand, and we believe Bill Condon is exactly
the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense
creativity and subtle sensitivity,” said Summit production president
Erik Feig.
