Oscar-winner Chris McQuarrie and his old pal Bryan Singer are getting together once again to bring about the film, Jack and the Giant Killer for New Line and Legendary Pictures. The film is a fantasy adventure, the tale of which is set
in motion when a princess is kidnapped, threatening a long-standing
peace between men and giants. A young farmer is given an opportunity to
lead a dangerous expedition to the giants’ kingdom in hope of rescuing
her. Singer is about to begin casting for the film, which he will shoot this summer in England.
Singer has been on the project for some time, and it threatens to take him off his planned return to the X-Men franchise’s First Class. McQuarrie is the newer addition, and considering that the duo worked together on The Usual Suspects (for which McQuarrie got his gold statue), Valkyrie and Public Access, it’s not that big a surprise that they’d be tag teaming yet another project. McQuarrie will be picking up scripting duties where Mark Bomback (Live Free or Die Hard) and Darren Lemke (Gemini Man) left off. Neal Moritz is producing with David Dobkin.
