Video game adaptations: they keep trying!
An adaptation of the PS3 game Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune has been in the works for some time, going through a number of writers. The latest are the duo behind the new Conan movie, which from what I’ve read of the script may not be great news. But at any rate, Latino Review is reporting that Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer are the newest guys on the merry-go-round, and that Sony is fast tracking the picture.
I have never so much as seen a frame of the PS3 game, but Wikipedia helpfully tells me that the game charts the journey of protagonist Nathan Drake, supposed descendant of the explorer Sir Francis Drake, as he seeks the lost treasure of El Dorado, with the help of friend Victor “Sully” Sullivan and journalist Elena Fisher. Sounds just generic enough, although I don’t know if there’s some kind of gameplay uniqueness that needs to come through in the movie. I’m sure I’ll hear about it in the comments below.
