At one point Darren Aronofsky’s next film, a thriller set in the ballet world called Black Swan, was intended to be a big Universal picture. But then the auteur decided to go indie and now he’s found a home for his film – Fox Searchlight, the same folks who took pretty good care of his last film, The Wrestler.
He’s also found some new actors. Winona Ryder has joined the cast as an older dancer; Natalie Portman has long been cast as a younger dancer who may be having delusions about her dancing nemesis, played by Mila Kunis.
Also joining the project are Barbara Hershey and the Frenchie Vincent Cassel. Black Swan, with a very small budget of 10 to 12 million dollars, shoots this year in New York City.
