The Ugly Truth wants to be everything to everyone. There’s the attempt to have gross-out sex humor to show that girls can keep up with the guys. But, there’s also enough romantic comedy material forced into the mix. It’s like if Nora Ephron pissed in Kevin Smith’s soup and then tried to serve it to Judd Apatow. Think about that image when you rent this bitch.

Heat is one of those films that creates obsessive film nerds. A decent contemporary take on the heist flick thrown together with just the right amount of grit and grime. A lot of people make a big deal about the Pacino vs. DeNiro scenes. But, that’s crap. This film firmly rests on the shoulders of Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore, Ted Levine and Wayne Gage. Also, it was the start of my using Ready Demolition as a fake company name for so many registration forms.
