A big blockbuster movie knows it is absolutely nothing without one thing to call its own- a videogame tie-in!
Yes, the Clash of the Titans remake is getting its own, and Namco Bandai is on the case. The game will of course be an action-adventure title and will launch on Xbox 360 and PS3 near the release of the film next Spring. Set in the timeless grandeur of Greek mythology, Clash of the Titans immerses players into the epic battle for dominance between the human race and the powerful gods Hades and Zeus. Through vast landscapes of swamps, mountains and the underworld, two modes of play let players embody Perseus’ adventure from the film, or take on original new bosses in fresh, dynamic adaptations of one of the greatest mythological stories ever told.
It will include co-op play (possibly online?) as gamers complete quests and tackle all kinds of mythological beasts like Medusa and The Kraken.
Warner Bros. Interactive has been a bit hit or miss with their movie adaptations, to say the least (they were behind both Wanted and Lord of the Rings Online, the Matrix games and the Harry Potter series), but it definitely seems like they’ve been trying to involve themselves with more interesting projects lately like FEAR 2 and Scribblenauts.
Perhaps developer Game Republic, best known for their PS3 title
Folklore, will be able to do something interesting with the license.
With this, God of War and Dante’s Inferno on the way around the same time, next year sure is looking like it will be packed full of mythological action fests. Too many?
