EA’s Visceral Games may still be polishing up their goofy, gory, nipplebaby-ridden* “take” on Dante’s Inferno, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have any new projects in the wings. Way back in July, Ben Fritz from the LA Times reported the following:

..two sources close to EA told The Times that Visceral’s next game would be Jack the Ripper, based on the 19th century British serial killer. It’s not clear what the game would involve, but it’s a natural follow-up of sorts to Dante’s Inferno, which is also based on copyright-free historical material.

All but confirming this rumor was EA’s recent filing of two trademark applications for “The Ripper.”

Will the game be a thoughtful look at the infamous Whitechapel murders, or will it pit a fireball-throwing Sherlock Holmes against The Ripper and his werewolf minions? I wonder.
