It’s September. They call it the dumping season. Pandorum, which will soon be available for purchase of $9.99, will be one of those films that when stumbled across it in a used bin, will make people wonder if it actually played in theaters. Here, then, is the evidence of that. They remade Fame and though the first film is.. beloved? and it spawned a TV show, I think what most people remember is the theme song. Which must be in the new film, right? Some cover version. Did they country it up, or go hip hop? The Amazon clip says hip hop, and they auto-tuned the shit out of it. Great. Surrogates, the hot robot movie, starred Bruce Willis. I wonder if he’ll make the DVD cover art. Sources say yes. The IMDb informs me that the films is 88 minutes long. Ouch. Rock a cello y’all, that shit is sad.

So, here we are. It’s September, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs managed to stay on top. This suggests that as long as it doesn’t lose too many screens to Toy Story 3-D, the thing will handily pass the $100 Million dollar mark. Good?

The Informant! is doing well considering, and should be able to stay a little longer than most of the films from this week. A $40 Million total might seem like a stretch, but it could level and play as the detritus leaves before it. Or, that is to say, there are going to be theaters where it’ll outplay Fame next week.

You could say that Jennifer’s Body rocked the trend by not falling 60% like most horror films. Instead it only fell 50%, which is not going to make anyone feel any better, but there is that. Diablo Cody and Karyn Kusama can sleep well knowing that teenagers and lesbians will be masturbating to this movie for years to (come).

9 makes it to $30 Million, and Inglorious Basterds should get over $120 Million. Next week offers at thee interesting choices, with the Toy Story re-issue, The Invention of Lying, and Zombieland.
