Unlike Activision’s kid-friendly music game Band Hero which panders to kids with artists like Adam Levine and Taylor Swift, Harmonix and Traveller’s Tales’ Lego Rock Band will have…. Iggy Pop?

Yep. Didn’t know they made skinny Lego characters, did you? The Godfather of punk will be in the game to sing The Passenger. He will also be narrating the tutorial for the game.

It’s just another indication of how fantastic Harmonix has been for introducing kids to great music they might have otherwise missed out on. While the game will have plenty of  younger crap the kids will love like Good Charlotte and Sum 41, they’ve got lots of fun songs like Ray Parker Jr’s Ghostbusters, Blur’s Song 2… and Europe’s The Final Countdown. Nice.

The other great thing is that the soundtrack will be exportable to Rock Band, so if you want to play these songs free of Lego blocks the choice is yours.

Lego Rock Band
