Sons of Anarchy is such an odd show. Taking cues from The Sopranos, The Shield and Hamlet, showrunner Kurt Sutter has fashioned a piecemeal take on the corruption of American tradition. Also, it sports Hellboy screwing over the British kid from Undeclared. It takes about five or six episodes before the show finds its footing, but I recommend that all newcomers take a shot on the Season 1 DVD. I hardly ever get to recommend new shows to people, hopefully you’ll take the plunge here.

The Last House on the Left really didn’t need to be remade. But, you can say that about most horror remakes. What bugged me about this iteration was how much of the point they missed. There seemed to be an active attempt to declaw this version, but they still ended up with a rather graphic rape scene. Plus, if you’re a fan of Garfunkel & Oates…the blone chick is in this. If you don’t dig on that, then you can stick around and watch Tony Goldwyn freak out. The longer cut of the film is barely different than the theatrical cut. Just a minute or two more of the violence.
