You can tell a lot about a person from the miscellaneous collection of
DVD’s stacked next to their television set. Every film we own says a little bit about us, whether
we’d like it to… or not. So I’ve decided to turn this uncompromising
insight on myself by analyzing my entire DVD collection… one impulse
buy at a time.

DAY 10: MEMENTO

WHAT IT’S ABOUT:
A guy with short-term memory loss (but thankfully
still remembers how to apply a wicked dye-job) goes around looking for
the man who whacked his wife by taking Polaroids and having the same
conversation with half the cast of “The Matrix”.

WHY I BOUGHT IT:
At
one point, I owned three copies of this flick. (Obsess much?) One disc
actually lets you watch the film linearly and I have to say… not
nearly as suspenseful as the version where you already know the ending.
(It’s my favorite movie of all time. I refuse to make fun of it.)

WHAT IT SAYS ABOUT ME:
Guy
Pearce’s monologue questioning, “how a person is supposed to heal when
they can’t feel time” gives me chills every time. Imagine the day when
he’s aged so much he doesn’t recognize his own reflection. Terrifying.

Hit me back. Until next time…
