The Hurt Locker may be the best action film of the year, and it isn’t one of those big dumb movies that opens on 2000 screens. It’s playing right now in New York and LA and it’ll be going wider in the weeks to come. Don’t let the fact that this is an Iraq War movie fool you into thinking you’re going to be bored with politics – this is a nail-bitingly intense action film that happens to have a brain in its head. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker is probably one of the year’s best films.
Now the first eight minutes of the movie are online for you to check out. Guy Pearce, Anthony Mackie and Brian Geraghty are tasked with taking care of a roadside bomb in Baghdad. Since this is a war movie, things don’t quite work out as planned…
