UPDATE: My bad. This Sunday Mail story is dated October 2008. Sometimes stories start running through the blogosphere and they get picked up by everybody. I try to be more vigilant than this, but even I get burned by laziness and poor research sometimes. My apologies.
Man, it’s been a brutal 21st century for Stephen Dorff. While a major supporting role in Public Enemies surely helps him feel better about it, his post-Blade work includes all-time stinkers such as Deuces Wild and Alone in the Dark.
Which might be why he wants to revisit those Blade glory days. The actor tells the Sunday Mail that he and Stephen Norrington, freshly returned to Hollywood after his League of Extraordinary Gentlemen self-exile, are teaming up on a prequel trilogy that focuses on Dorff’s Deacon Frost character.
“It will be a prequel to the Blade movies, Deacon’s story. It’s a new trilogy the director has created. It will cool.
“We hope to shoot the first film next year. Frost is a character I have never been able to shake.”
He said this while promoting his film Felon, which is… direct to video.
I wouldn’t hold my breath on a Deacon Frost movie, let alone a trilogy, but I do hope the best for old Dorff.
