Here at CHUD, you might have noticed how closely we’re following the development of Visceral Games’ Dante’s Inferno. The game can’t help but conjure up an unusual mix of anticipation, bewilderment, and laughter, because – well, how else can we react to an ultraviolent adaptation of a classic Italian poem that features weaponized religious iconography and apparent Lust end-boss Boobmungous?
If there’s anything to be gleaned from the promotional materials so far, it’s that Dante’s Inferno really seems to be playing it straight. It’s looking more and more like an unfunny Brütal Legend. If it’s as humorless as Dead Space was, this one might collapse beneath its own weight. Is it too late to throw in that equippable altar boy launcher?
