Land of the Lost is better than you expect. And while much of that credit must go to the chemistry of Will Ferrell and Danny McBride, a whole heaping lump of credit has to go to Brad Silberling, the director. Silberling found a way to balance the comedy with the big budget spectacle, and to his credit he errs on the side of the comedy. Anybody walking in to Land of the Lost expecting non-stop action and beasts will find themselves watching long stretches of comedy and character interaction. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I sat down with Silberling last week at the Hollywood Palladium, the venerable music venue. The one on one interviews were held in the green rooms of the theater, rooms that once held everybody from Lawrence Welk to Led Zeppelin.
Be warned that this interview might contain the most mild of spoilers.
Land of the Lost opens this weekend. I think it’s worth your time.
