Namco Bandai just sent a whole load of new stuff for Dead to Rights: Retribution, including screenshots and the below video. This is a look at Grant City, apparently the main location for the game. Unfortunately there’s no gameplay shown here just yet, but this is a “fly-by” look at some of the locations from the game. You can see they’re going for a noirish, bleak atmosphere. It also looks pretty damn stunning, such a huge step up from the last game!
Thrusting players into a mature neo-noir crime drama as a vice cop Jack Slate and his canine companion Shadow, Dead to Rights: Retribution introduces new gameplay elements that unify the third person shooting and brawling genres for a brutal and relentless new action-driven experience. Introducing an innovative new hybrid combat system that seamlessly blends hand-to-hand combat with gunplay, the game puts the full combat potential of a highly trained, highly agitated law-enforcement officer into players’ hands.
The first Dead to Rights is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine- it’s not a great game but it sure was a fun one. Nothing like siccing your dog on a perp, and the various takedowns were fun as hell. If these screens are any indication the game’s going to be getting a whole lot more brutal. The one thing that should scare you, however, is that developer Volatile Games are the guys behind that Reservoir Dogs game… and Bad Boys 2. Yikes. Shall we give them the benefit of the doubt since they were both movie properties?
Retribution hits Xbox 360 and PS3 fourth quarter 2009.
