I don’t know the musical Nine, based on Fellini’s 8 1/2, so I can’t make any knowing judgments of the trailer for the movie version of the same. I can say that the trailer is kinetic, interesting and filled with women I would like to bone.
Which I guess is part of the point. Fellini’s autobiographical film is about an Italian director who is pressured on all sides and retreats into memories of the women he has known. Daniel Day-Lewis plays the role originated by the great Marcello Mastroianni, while Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson and the world’s ultimate butterface, Fergie, play the women.
It’s the latest film from Rob Marshall, whose Chicago was not Oscar-worthy but wasn’t as bad as everybody keeps making it out to be. I quite enjoyed the film, actually. I own the soundtrack! And maybe I’ll end up with the soundtrack to Nine.
