Fallout 3 developer Bethesda Softworks has just announced that Mickey Rourke will voice the lead role of Rebellion Software’s upcoming Rogue Warrior. Rourke will play “irreverent, battle-tested Richard “Demo Dick” Marcinko”, a real Navy Seal who’s had a helluva interesting life.
Based on Marcinko’s book of the same name, you will control the Rourke-voiced character who’s sent on an operation to stop the North Koreans from creating ballistic missiles. There you uncover some conspiracy of some sort and “and must covertly enter the USSR to destroy a technology that could change the balance of geopolitical power, leaving a trail of destruction in your wake.”
I’m guessing that this story’s from one of his fictional books, rather than his real experiences. At least I hope so.
The guys at Rebellion are understadably excited to have Rourke voicing the character. “Mickey Rourke was our first choice to play Marcinko in Rogue Warrior,” said Todd Vaughn, Executive Producer. “He absolutely, one-hundred percent captures Marcinko’s raw and gritty personality.”
Expect a stealthy third person shooter. Bethesda gave this title to developer Rebellion (Alien Vs. Predator) after being disappointed with Zombie did with it. There’s no more multiplayer or co-op as originally announced, the game instead focusing on a character-based shooter. We’ll see how that works out for a world craving co-op games.
Rogue Warrior will hit Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this Winter.
