Here’s my vote for Biggest Career Change in 2009: Evan Spiliotopoulos will be writing Wanted 2. If you don’t know why that’s such a big change, it may be because you don’t have kids. You see, Spiliotopoulos is the writer of Pooh’s Heffalump Adventure, as well as a direct to DVD sequel.
Spiliotopoulos (whose name I copied from The Hollywood Reporter and am simply pasting here, rather than trying to spell it myself) will be writing a script based on an idea by Chris Morgan, one of the writers of the original film.
Now, I’m sure that Spiliotopoulos’ kiddie movie background (he’s also written an adaptation of the teen-oriented graphic novel Agnes Quill: An Anthology of Mystery) has no bearing on his ability to write a truly morality-free, nihilistic sequel to the film that made some of my colleagues nearly shit their pants in outrage. It’ll just make it all that much funnier.
