It’s a slow end to a tumultuous week, and just about the best thing I can tell you right now is that there is a good chance David Wain won’t waste his time on the third film in Universal’s wholly over-stretched Meet the Parents series. Wain had been in contention (and still may be, to some extent, and I wouldn’t begrudge him the paycheck if he did end up with the movie) but for the time being Variety is highlighting Paul Weitz as the main guy in talks to defibrillate the Little Fokkers.
Trade says he’ll jump right from that, which starts shooting in July, to Another Bullshit Night in Suck City. Guess that means he’s not going to be the guy for Twilight 3; he’d been among the many names tossed around in connection with that movie, due in part to his brother Chris’s gig helming the second Twilight film.
This is the point where I want to just put a gun to my mouth, because I’ve done what I bitch about MTV doing on a daily basis: turned a regular old trade break into a Twilight story. Can I go home now?
