Ever since February, I had been trying to pass my teacher certification test. There are two parts to getting my certification. It doesn’t matter which test is passed first, but I wanted to get the one which I believe is the more important of the two. The content portion. Can’t teach the subject without having the certification.
Right now I have a probationary certificate that expires by this August because of course there has to be a way to be able to teach as an intern so one can get the experience necessary for the other part of the certification. The other part deals with classroom management among other things.
The content version was a damn difficult test. The first time I missed it by 11 points. Then I studied my ass off even more, and I MISSED IT BY 3 POINTS. Each time I have to pay $120. I had to pay this last time for what was essentially one question.
It was a computerized test, so I took my time, and I was the last one there. Even though I still had a little under an hour and a half, and I heard snoring. The test proctor had fallen asleep. Thankfully I was just going through each question and I had already finished. Her snoring was getting annoying.
Earlier today I was obsessively checking the test site to see if my scores had been posted. Finally around 11 they were. This time I passed. 10 points over the minimum. Words cannot describe how happy I was. Now all I have to do is pass the other one and I’ll be fully certified. The good news is just with the one I already have, it’ll be much easier to find a job, as that’s what prospective schools first look for.
