The Rocker works as a reminder that you can’t always catch lightning in a bottle twice. I’m a huge sucker for rock movies, but Rainn Wilson’s energies seem misplaced in this by the numbers rock power movie. Sure, I love seeing the hot-as-fuck Emma Stone get more roles. But, these films only work as vague reminders that you can’t truly rock out with kids. First time they O.D., you’re going to have Child Services all over your ass.

Vicky Christina Barcelona reminds of the Woody Allen that I adore. The auteur who created Love and Death, Shadows and Fog and Match Point is back. Not enough attention is being paid to Bardem’s ability to channel the nebbish nature of the Allen lead into something truly International and exotic. Hell, it’s more than what Hugh Jackman pulled off.
