PLOT And SUMMARY:

The uplifting themes of A New Generation encourage people to embrace others and resist prejudice and bigotry. Young children may be scared by cartoon violence and danger, such as ponies falling from cliffs or buildings, a military-style robot assaulting helpless ponies, and people being hunted or imprisoned throughout the film. Ponies on the planet Earth think that unicorns can “zap” and “fry” their brains with their “horn lasers,” and this mistrust and dread extends to all pony groups. It takes many fillies to go against the grain and indicate that fear and doubt are preferable to openness and friendliness when making snap judgments about others. Educating oneself about other people, locations, and cultures may help reduce misunderstandings and prevent unnecessary conflicts, as seen in the video. The only words used in both song and conversation are sarcastic epithets such as “butt” or “dumb.” There is a chance that this movie will pique interest in additional My Little Pony merchandise and products because it is built around the Hasbro brand.

REVIEW:

‘Pretty Woman’s iconic phrase and another Hasbro product, the Hungry Hungry Hippos game, are blatant plugs for ‘My Little Pony,’ which similarly hopes to evoke a specific generation of adults’ nostalgia for the ’80s.

This frothy concoction isn’t really my cup of tea, to be honest. As a mother of an eight-year-old boy who is most certainly NOT a Brony, I’m a bit too old to remember playing with the toys when I was a child. Despite my urging to maintain an open mind before the film, which is always our objective, he refused to go to a recent screening with me.

A lot of credit goes to the film’s makers for staying loyal to the show’s core aspects, including retaining the voice actors who have played these characters for all seven seasons. Aside from Jayson Thiessen, another familiar face among the show’s directors and writers is Meghan McCarthy, who wrote and directed the show’s pilot episode. Michael Vogel also co-wrote the screenplay with Rita Hsiao.

Even yet, “My Little Pony: The Movie” seeks to broaden its appeal at the same time by introducing new characters to the pony verse and hiring well-known actors to portray them in the film. Though it deals with fundamental concepts like trust and cooperation, the story itself is disjointed and packed with many poorly formed characters. There are also sporadic bursts of singing from the different animals, although they are not especially noteworthy. However, one upbeat song about how great you are was a toe-tapper for me.)

Anyway, let me explain: There’s a huge celebration planned for the group’s leader, Twilight Sparkle (voiced by Tara Strong). While an evil entity invades Ponyville and kidnaps the ruling princesses to use their magical powers, Twilight Sparkle is forced to go on a trip with the assistance of her friends to rescue them and their home. They are Ashleigh Ball’s flamboyant Rainbow Dash and rural girl Applejack, Andrea Libman’s unflappable Pinki Pie, and Andrea Libman’s sensitive, timid Fluttershy, Tabitha St. Germain’s beautiful vampire Rarity, and Spike, their wisecracking dragon sidekick (Cathy Weseluck).

They’re on the run from the evil unicorn with a damaged horn, Tempest Shadow (voiced by Emily Blunt), who serves the terrible Storm King (Liev Schreiber). A former pirate gang now working as couriers (led by Zoe Saldana) and a mother-daughter seahorse pair in a secret underwater hideaway are encountered along the route (voiced by Uzo Aduba and Kristin Chenoweth). Taye Diggs plays a cunning cat who promises to assist the ponies, but his motives are unclear. Then there’s… Sia. Sia has taken on the shape of a horse, replete with a wig and everything.
