PLOT:
There’s a gratifying twist to the narrative that keeps you interested, and our characters quickly become three-dimensional. Going back to her Wizards of Waverly Place days, Gomez has only appeared in a few films, but her comedic deadpan is razor-sharp, and she serves as an emotional anchor for the narrative. This is especially true when it comes to Short’s hilariously over-the-top antics, which are part of the image Oliver has created for himself to hide what a failure he’s become.
Eventually, Oliver describes Mabel as “strange” in the same manner that “all your favorite people Expect them to become your new favorite weirdos, and Only Murders to become your new obsession — even if you can’t listen to it while you’re out for a run! ”
