I considered coming up with some surrealist poem to serve as my discourse on Little Ashes and its recently-minted trailer. But I realized that was futile, as seeing Twilight‘s Robert Pattinson (an actor I honestly enjoyed in his Harry Potter appearances) in character as Salvador Dali is surreal enough.
Little Ashes traces the development of the social and artistic triangle formed by Dali, Federico García Lorca (Javier Beltran) and Luis Buñuel (Matthew McNulty). I don’t even feel like I have to editorialize here: the trailer comes packed with comic ammunition aplenty. Though given my indelible love for Buñuel, this does make me want to shed a tear or two.
Con Air director Simon West is also hoping to make a Dali biopic, possibly starring Antionio Banderas. I can’t imagine whether seeing this will encourage West, or prompt him to oil up the .45 and put it to his temple after downing a bottle of Old Granddad.

(And after writing about the IMDB gaming for Nobel Son, I wonder what’s up with the site’s score for this movie, too: 123 ’10’ votes after playing at the massively popular Raindance and Valladolid film festivals.)
